The Baltasound Hotel is Britains most northerly hotel and offers a unique opportunity to stay on the beautiful and enchanting island of Unst. Ever popular with birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts and those seeking to enjoy the tranquillity of this most Northerly island, the hotel is considered a hidden gem by many guests.
Located just north of the 60th parallel, the northern location is ideal for a quiet retreat or the ultimate getaway. A friendly Shetland welcome, surrounded by nature and peace. Overlooking Balta Island, and being a short walk to the harbour, the hotel is superbly located. The Keen of Hamar nature reserve is close by and guests will often enjoy an after diner stroll to go Otter sighting or birdwatching. Please have a look at our photo gallery.
The hotel has 24 bedrooms. The season runs from mid April through to early October, and outside these dates operates on a restricted basis. Guests can choose between wood cabins in the grounds and inside rooms, all are ground floor, en suite with showers and equally popular. Much has changed since the hotel opened in 1939 as storm clouds gathered over Europe, but the quest to provide quality, affordable accommodation in this beautiful remote location endures.
